About Custom Lightning Addresses
A Custom Lightning Address is a personalised, easy-to-remember address for sending and receiving Bitcoin on the Lightning Network. It functions similarly to an email address and includes your unique identifier followed by the service provider’s domain (e.g., [email protected]).
Why create a custom lightning address? Unlike Lightning invoices, which expire after a set time, a custom Lightning address is permanent. This makes it much more convenient for others to send you payments without the need for a new invoice each time. It's also easy to share, so no more need to copy/paste invoices or scanning QR codes.
Steps to Create Your Custom Lightning Address
To create your Custom Lightning Address, follow these steps:
Open your Bitcoin Wallet and tap receive.
Press @ to begin then tap ok, let's do it.
Enter your desired address in the input field (the
@amber.appsuffix is automatically added).Desired addresses must be between 2 and 20 characters.
Only numbers and letters are allowed.
Press next and swipe to finalise your Custom Lightning Address.
Once you set your Custom Lightning Address it cannot be edited or changed. So choose wisely!
