Satoshis Explained

A Satoshi, commonly referred to as a "Sat," is the smallest unit of bitcoin. Named after Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, a Satoshi represents 0.00000001 BTC, meaning one bitcoin (BTC) is equal to 100,000,000 Sats.

Why Use Satoshis? Using Satoshis as a unit of measurement allows for easier handling of fractions of a bitcoin. This means you can make transactions without having to worry about dealing with large decimal numbers.

How to Adjust Your Wallet Display Settings

In AmberApp, you have the option to display your wallet in either bitcoin (BTC) or Satoshis (SATS). By default, the display setting is set to SATS. However, feel free to switch to bitcoin if you prefer. Here’s how to switch between them:

  1. Open your account page.

  2. Tap the settings cog in the top-right corner.

  3. Toggle on or off the display bitcoin as SATS setting.

That's it! Your wallet will now be displayed in either BTC or SATS, depending on your selection.
